Everland’s Dave Brown to Lead Packaging Design Jury at iF Awards 2025

The iF Design Award in Berlin stands as one the most prestigious design awards in the world. Owned by the non-profit iF Design Foundation, the award emphasises design’s global impact on society and business.

At Everland, we have won two iF Awards for our work with Bite and La Vie. These awards are a testament to innovation and distinction, and the celebration in Berlin is an annual highlight for the entire design community.

The last submission deadline for the iF Design Award 2025 is the 6th of November 2024. At Everland, we’re proud to have our very own Dave Brown as the Leader of the Packaging Design Jury. So, we asked him what, in his mind, makes iF stand out from the rest.

As the Leader of the packaging jury, what are you looking for when judging at iF Design?
DB: The judging criteria are – Form, Function, Differentiation, and Impact. A “smile in the mind” idea always captures the judges’ attention, and sets a design apart from the rest. Personally, I appreciate a piece of work that is distinctively different and has a high degree of sustainability at the core of the idea.

Why does the design community need iF Design?
DB: As designers, we need to take greater responsibility for the planet and sustainability. iF Design positively promotes ethical design that supports environmental sensitivity, which is so important to our industry. We can make a real difference if we take a bigger environmental responsibility upon us.

What makes iF Design unique?
DB: iF is a truly Global awards programme that judges categories from structural innovation in industrial design right through to branded consumer goods, corporate identity and interactive media. It’s the appreciation of the entire design industry across disciplines and categories.
